The combo of State issued Digital Currency plus State issued Digital Identity is a short route to George Orwells Nineteen Eighty Four.
One or the other may be within State control ......but not both......
We did however attempt, almost quarter century ago in much simpler times, to build a private sector but global solution to the then nascent problem of Identity in the Digital /internet environment. It was private sector and yet was highly regulated. Then Governor Greenspan signed off on it.......Maybe we should revisit that....
A state issued "central bank" digital currency could then operate alongside other Crypto if the demand was there.
