Apple Opens Up

You need a digital wallet strategy.

Dateline: Jersey, 13th November 2024.

Earlier this year, Apple announced that any third-party wallet can now build on Apple’s Near Field Communication (NFC) and Secure Element (SE) architecture. As my good friend and respected commentator Tom Noyes immediately pointed out, this is no “spur of the moment announcement” and Apple must have been working on this for some time. Indeed. This is not some tinkering around the edge of the platform but a really significant strategic change.
